At The Beach
The sky was blue with no clouds in sight and a great day for kayaking. A man named Yummyhachi pushed his kayaking into the glassy sea water. He felt good so he went further from the shore until the people on the beach looked like ants. The bad thing was that he was out of sight of people.
All of a sudden he saw in the corner of his eyes a big black shadow go underneath him. Yummyhachi thought to himself he was a goner so he tried to paddle as fast as he could but the shadow caught up. He got worried and called for help the beast attempted to knock him out of the kayak. His heart started to race his hands started to shake and he felt a cold shiver up his spine.
Then he started to pray that this was going to lose his interest and leave him alone. The beast swam at him again and showed it self it was a dolphin he was relieved and jumped into the water to play with the dolphin and the dolphin was pretty good. He taught it a few tricks and started to call it tom after his playful pet he use to have.
it got dark and he realized it was time to go and he forgot about his kayak it had floated out to sea well he was playing with his new friend. He got the dolphins attention and pointed to the kayak. The dolphin made this a weird nose and the boat got pushed to him. He noticed that the as the boat got closer that it was getting pushed to him by more dolphins.

The Haunted Barn
It was a cold dim night. The wind was howling, and cold shivers went up my spine as I reached the creepy barn. I stepped into the barn with goose bumps climbing up my legs. All of a sudden I felt a cold breeze go past me I started to feel like the barn was haunted.

Joshua Iosefo 2
First we watch this boy say this inspirational speech then all of sudden hes at our school saying it in front of us. His name is Joshua Iosefo and his speech is very inspiring and I recommend yous to listen to it. It could help you in many ways like enjoy writing more or believe yourself more.
After he said his speech we got to ask questions. I could only remember him saying that his granddad inspired him, saying how his granddad migrated to New Zealand. Joshua Iosefo also said that he wanted to be a movie director, directing movies based on real stories.
Then he started to talk to us and say like it was up to us to change the stereotype. Like instead of people thinking that we're dumb prove that we can be really smart if we push our self. Also to believe in yourself and not to listen to people telling us were dumb just because were Maori or Pacific. His speech was very helpful to me in many way’s because I’m starting to enjoy writing.

Today was a special day today because Joshua Iosefo came to Pt England. It was special because Joshua wrote a poem Brown Brother that was really inspiring, so inspiring that it got onto Campbell live. At the end of his speech we got to ask questions. From the answers I learnt that our generation can change our stereotypes. Instead of being known as one of the dumbest cultures we could be one of the smartest cultures.

Best Night Ever!!! The Year 7 & 8's Social
This was the night were all the fun stuff happens. It was the year 7 and 8’s social and I was ready to go. I was so excited to see what my friends look like.
I was in the car ready to go to the best social i would ever go to in my life. Finally I was there and the first people I see are Matthew T,Mathew R and Kayde. But i thought I looked better.... jokes we all look good. The doors opened and we all rushed in like a animal stamped.
“What there’s not that much people here” I said . But there was hardly anyone there and it was boring then all of a sudden more and more people came and the fun started. The time flew bye as I was having fun dancing with my friend.
The first comp was a doggie comp nez took that out. Then we had two more comps azonto and gangnam. I didn't win any but i still had fun.
Then we had the meanest feed fizzy and sausage sizzle. I wasn't really hungry because I felt sick but not sick enough to stop dancing. Then we started a conga line it was really fun.

Olympic Day
On the 20th of september at school , it was no ordinary day at school it was a fun packed day of sports. We got put into teams and the teams were named after countries that were in the world cup. I was a captain of a little country named ROMANIA!!!

Cross Country
My heart beating, my adrenaline starts pumping and my mind is stuck in the the game as I prepare for the race. Suddenly Mr Burt claps two pieces of wood and we start running like a wild pack of wolves. I begin at the back but start to catch up as people slow down. Then all of a sudden I start to sink into the ground. The mud is so muddy that it sucked one of my shoes off my foot like an ant stuck in honey. I put it on as fast as lightning and carried on. I was finally past the field and on to the bush track.
This was the second part of the cross country and I start to slow down but didn't stop running . I had the stitch but luckily it went away. On the way through the bush I meet the enemy the puddle but it wasn't going to get in the way so I ran through it like it was dry ground. After a while I came across some people in a previous race. I thought to myself I must be doing well. Suddenly I heard a thump, Jephte had just slipped on the bridge. I looked back but he was alright.
Finally I got to the last bit “Yes” I said but sadly got told to go around the reserve again and I was like “WHAT!!!?”. So I ran around it I was coming in third place when I saw Miracle catching up so I took of my shoes and started to pick up my pace to the finish. Without any effort I got to the end and everyone was cheering. I got in the top three and got some points for Tainui.

Don't Smoke!!!
Smoking is responsible for lots diseases like cancer, long-term (chronic) respiratory diseases, and heart disease and also premature death. Over 4500 people in new zealand. People die because of smoking each year and it is the leading cause of preventable deaths. The World Health Organisation says that around 9% of deaths worldwide are caused by smoking. The chemicals in the tobacco can cause cancer like heart disease or lung cancer.
Teenagers smoke because every one is doing it or just to be cool. This is a really bad thing to do when you're young because your body isn't fully developed. Once you start it’s really hard to stop. Smoking can really affect your health or even your life when you get older.
The government only allows tobacco because it get % out of every packet of smokes that are purchased. The reason why is to pay for the healthcare that will be needed by smokers when they get sick.
Teenage smoking isn't right. It can harm your health when you're older. SO DON’T SMOKE!!!!

Valerie Adams by Tupac,Kobe and Kaiden
Valerie tried to defend her gold medal but she just could not surpass her opponent Nadzeya Ostapchuk and she came in second place taking home the silver . Trying to hide her tears as she walked to the podium her sadness and disappointment showed through. At the end of the day she lost by 0.64m. It was emotional night as she lost the a gold medal but we're still proud of her .

Basketball!!
We played a game named teleport it was cool until the coach was started to help the other team. But of course he had to because they were no match for our team. I was in the red team with my classmates. The game was sort of like netball you had to get ten or more passes before the other team intercepts the pass.
I think the hardest skill to do was when you had to make the ball go around our body. It was difficult because I couldn't hold the ball in one hand well it was going around my body. But the rest of the skills were easy. It was a little bit difficult to to dribble with my left hand. At the end of the day I didn't want to go back to class because it was so fun.

Brown Brother
Joshua's message is that we should not have to listen stereotypes and not to limit yourself. His poem touched heaps of people like Maoris and Samoans. He explains how brown people work as fast food burger making,box-packing, rubbish truck drivers, taxi drivers and sober drivers and more also but that we don't need to just be those kind of people.
Joshua's poem had lots of assonance and similes like sugar or the crust, the grain or the nut. He also uses the word brown brother a lot of times but its a poem. My overall feeling about his poem is that I could probably be the first Maori Lawyer I know.

Time Lapes Movie
Kiwi Kick
When I first went to kiwi kick a gush of wind came and nearly blow me over while I was trying to sit down. It was cold and my goose bumps started to show. Also the coaches mike and Anita were so cold that they were shivering and had red noses.
We got to learn some skills like a hand pass, drop punt and chest mark. The skill that I liked was the drop punt. You must be wondering what a drop punt is, a drop punt is when you but the lace away from faces the x’s on the sides straight up and down. The next part in doing a drop punt is to imagine that you have mud on your shoe, drop the ball and flick the imaginary mud off your shoe. Then that would make you kick straight.
In one activity I teamed up with Lepa. We had to practice our hand passing to each other We started to have fun and started to catch the ball with one hand and hand pass really far. It was fun because we got to challenge ourselves to hand pass as far as we could.
At the end of the day we got to play a game we played a little game names octopus. But instead of tagging them we had to hit them softly with a kiwi kick ball,the hard part was that you had to hand pass the ball to get them out. I didn't really knew how to play so I got in first but that was ok because I wanted to be in any way. In the end we managed to get everyone in.
The overall feeling about kiwi kick is that I would want to do this more often at school.

Picasso and Mattisse
This term we are learning about art alive and that is why I am writing about these artist. I have researched some information about these artists, their names are Picasso and Matisse. They are really famous artists. Picasso was born on 25 October 1881 and lived to 8 April 1973 that means that he was aged 91 when he died.
The Weeping Woman by Picasso and The Women With A Hat by Matisse are both similar to each other, they are both a portrait of a women. But the difference between them is the themes are very different. Picasso’s theme was about the the suffering and pain that the woman had to go through because of the Spanish civil war. Matisse’s painting however doesn’t have a strong theme or emotions. He was experimenting with colours and a different style of painting.

Show not tell
At camp we went in to the hall and played a game similar to tennis but in a smaller version. We got to play against a adult It was really fun. We tried and tried to win but He was just to good.
Amazing race
"Fling" as the paper ball went flying, it landed near the bucket. This was part of our first activity where we had make a slingshot to shoot paper balls at targets. It was really hard to hit the target because when we shot the paper ball the wind blew it. "Man, this is so annoying," I moaned to my friend Lepa. Amazing at the end we managed to score a whopping 160.
The next challenge we had, was to go around our community to find clues. The first place we had to go to was was the bakery where we got an egg. At the pools we got a piece of wood. We also had to go to the Point England reserve to get a big tin can and a plastic bag filled with firewood from the beach. On our way back I said to my crew," Why don't we have a rest stop to feed the horses." Finally we ended up at the office to get a box of matches.
Once we had found all of the clues we went back to the finish line. With annoyance we found out that we were disqualified because we delayed too long. We came late because we fed the horses. We put it all together anyway and it made a hobo stove. With the hobo stove we had to cook an egg but unfortunately we didn't have enough time, and Stevie dropped the egg anyway.

Ben Carson
Ben Carson was born in Detroit Michigan. His mum Sonya dropped 3 grade and got marred 13. When Ben was 8 years old his parents divorced and his dad left his mum to raise them up by her self.
Her mum had to work as a mad 2 times or 3 a day to provide her family with food and cloths. He and his big brother wasn't doing so good at school he was at the bottom. Also he got angry really fast because he was really stressed.
Then when she was at this rich persons house she realize that thay had lots of books and thay didn't watch t v that often. Then she wanted to turn there lives around by limited t v and not aloud to go out side until thay finish there thay had to read and do a book report on 2 books a week. Also thay had to hand in a written report to there mother.

One time when the teacher bang in a rock and asked the class what the rock was named. No one but there hand up so he but his hand up and said the right name. He astonished his class mates with his new knowledge.
Soon he was the smartest in his class and wanted to be a medic and then was a neurosurgent and became Inspirational to doctors.

My camp highlight
"Brim" as the buses came down the road. As we were getting ready to go to Swimerama the buses turned up and we hoped on the buses with excitement. At the pools we saw the worriers and they came in the pool we were so excited we even did the haka.

The first camp 2012
Today
it is the first camp in 2012 and I’m in respect crew. We started the
day with food prep and we got to do our own scones. The thing I like about the food prep is when we got to tasting it at the end.
Then after we did the food prep we went to the Point England reserve to kayak. I really enjoyed my self.

Soft ball tournament
Wack! As the ball went flying as we started the soft ball tournament. We were so excited in winning the tournament. The way we were going to win the tournament was if we listed to the mentor.
We started the day with a smashing score of 7-6 to us. But that doesn't mean that we were going to win the next rounds. I felt that I was getting better at catching. There was a hit so big that it went on to another field I think that was amazing.
As Lepa bowled the ball the opposition hit the ball strait at me and I court the ball. But that wasn't that good enough because they were betting us by twelve home runs. Then it was our turn to hit the ball. As we were cheering our team on we got so much home runs I lost count but it wasn't enough to win and we lost but we tried our best.
We lost because we didn't listen to the coach and they couldn't catch that well. If we stayed our eyes on the ball we could of won that game. I think if we all trained on our catching we would on had the chance of winning.
At the end of the day some of us were exhausted and tied. But the main thing is that we had fun.

Keep cyber smart
As the girl posted how she felt about her parents in a disrespecting way, she tried to block her parents but they found a way to see the piece of writing she wrote. The dad was so angry that he got a video camera to show her what happened to her laptop and why it happend. If she was cyber smart she would of still had her laptop. So now she has to get a job to get her a new laptop.

Think before you post
Once you post a bad photo or a bad piece of writing on private it can go world wide,if you get someone angry they can send it to everyone. Its really important to be cybersmart because if you post a inappropriate the whole world could see it also it can affect you and your family. It is important to post things that you can be proud of so you can get a good job in the future.

A cold day at the beach
Today at the beach the sky was covered with gray clouds and the waves were crashing in to the sand. The wind nearly blew me off my feet. “Its too windy” I said as I was trying to warm my self up. I got a blanket and hopped in to the car,just making it before the rain started. It sounded like rooks falling.
