Picasso and Mattisse

This term we are learning about art alive and that is why I am writing about these artist.  I have researched some information about these artists, their names are Picasso and Matisse.  They are really famous artists.  Picasso was born on 25 October 1881 and lived to 8 April 1973 that means that he was aged 91 when he died.

The Weeping Woman by Picasso and The Women With A Hat by Matisse are both similar to each other, they are both a portrait of a women. But the difference between them is the themes are very different. Picasso’s theme was about the the suffering and pain that the woman had to go through because of the Spanish civil war. Matisse’s painting however doesn’t have a strong theme or emotions. He was experimenting with colours and a different style of painting.

Mattisse's style of painting was called fauvism.That is when you use unrealistic colours. His style of painting was named cubism that is when you use bold lines and and unrealistic colours just like Mattisse. He was born on He was born on 31 December 1869  to 3 November 1954.
